First Time Out In Winter
Winter mountaineering is a great way to enjoy amazing sights and experiences that are only possible at this time of year.  You will traverse a beautiful, frosty, white mountain wonderland.  Icicles forming from the rocks, wind blown ice and snow sculptures all add to the winter experience.

Scottish winter mountaineering and climbing should not be underestimated in any way.  Here at Adventure First you will head to the hills with a highly experienced qualified instructor.  We will teach you the vital skills to keep you and your friends safe in what can be a harsh environment:
  • We will start with the basics such as what to carry with you, route choice and weather forecasting.
  • On the hill you will learn to navigate in winter conditions and how to evaluate the snow pack to ensure you are on safe ground.
  • Then we will look at the use of ice axes and crampons and security on steep snow slopes.
Each course we provide is tailor made to you and your group to ensure you get the most from your day.

Winter Climbing
In Scotland we are fortunate enough to have some fantastic and impressive winter clmbing venues.  Whether you are looking to try winter climbing for the first time or if you want to improve your winter climbing and push your grade then our instructors can help.  We will tailor make each trip to match your ability to ensure you get the most out of your experience.  We work with small groups in winter climbing with a ratio of around one instructor to two clients to ensure you have a safe enjoyable day and ensure you learn as much as possible.

We also offer winter guiding, so if you have a route you have always wanted to do but would rather do it with an experienced guide, then get in touch and we will organise it for you.
